CHECKLIST

FOR RECORDING SESSION

1) Bring all guitars, amps, pedals, cables, fx

2) Make sure all battery operated equipment has new batteries in it

3) Pack extra strings in case a string breaks

4) Make sure all cables work, dont bring intermittent guitar cables

5) Bring picks and other accessories

6) Bring drum kit and all related hardware, make sure the heads of the drums are good, if you can replace them

7) Make sure to tune the kit VERY WELL as a poorly tuned kit will ruin the recording

8) Bring percussion "Toys" should you have it...

9) Bring multiple guitars and amps if you have them as we can layer guitars or choose amps for different parts etc...more choices...

10) Try to play to a metronome, PLEASE this makes a record sound 100% tighter and more professional when a band plays to a click.

11) Bring BPM numbers for songs...if song has multiple tempos feel free to program a midi file with the tempo changes and bring that with you on a cd or e-mail it to yourself for download at the studio.

12) Bring Lyric sheets for all songs to be recorded for the engineer

13) Dont be afraid to experiment with sounds, ideas, harmonies, techniques etc or be afraid of anything you cant do live...

14) Have a plan for recording, discuss this plan with the engineer prior to or first thing so everyone is on the same page

15) Bring reference CD's of bands you want to sound similar to...for example bring in a cd where you like the drum sound, or guitar sound, or a song where you like a vocal effect...its easier for the engineer to duplicate this or find something similar if he has something to refer to.

16) Get involved, if you dont like the sound of something say so immediately as its easier to change it before we start recording than it is to after its already on "tape"

17) Be a part of the mixing session, even though you might be bored occasionally during the mixing portion of the sessions, its good to stay involved so the engineer can stay on track to mixing it the way you hear your band in your head...

18) Listen to the advice of the engineer...and trust your ears...

19) Bring Tuner for guitars/bass.

20) Let the engineer know your equipment list, guitars, amps, pedals/fx, keyboards, drums (how many toms, snares, etc..) as all this will effect the choice for mics and setup.

21) Have fun!
